Engineer

We are seeking a Backend Engineer Intern with strong fundamentals in backend development and modern API design. This role involves architecting scalable, high-performance backend systems that power COMYU's mobile applications. You will be responsible for building and maintaining robust APIs, designing efficient data models, and ensuring smooth integration with frontend and mobile platforms.

As a core member of our engineering team, you'll work closely with React Native developers to deliver real-time, secure, and reliable features — from authentication and user management to social graph data structures and live community interactions.

You’ll architect and develop the core backend systems that power COMYU’s mobile and platform. This involves designing scalable REST and WebSocket APIs, building robust data models in PostgreSQL and Neo4j, implementing real-time communication layers, and optimizing performance for speed and reliability. You’ll ensure data security, seamless API integrations, and efficient workflows that enable features like social graphs, user profiles, notifications, and authentication. This involves:

• 0–3 years of experience in backend or full-stack web development
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and FastAPI (6–12 months preferred)
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and WebSocket communication
• Experience working with PostgreSQL and Neo4j databases
• Familiarity with Redis for caching and performance optimization
• Understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms — OAuth 2.0, JWT, Firebase Auth
• Knowledge of containerization using Docker and deployment workflows on AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or GitLab CI/CD)
• Awareness of code quality standards, version control practices, and agile development workflows
• Exposure to testing frameworks such as PyTest or unit testing strategies
• Understanding of scalability, performance tuning, and API security best practices

• Internship stipend: ₹12,000 – ₹20,000 per month, based on experience and performance
